Grantfest

Back in early September while I was still on maternity leave, I took Grant back to VA to visit his grandparents and meet all of our friends!  We have amazing friends who all wanted the opportunity to meet G - many of them drove home for a one night party :)  Thanks to you all!  Matt couldn't believe how many people were going to meet Grant and decided to nickname our trip "Grantfest".  Ha!

G had his first airline trip.  We arrived at the airport WAY too early thanks to my worrying about travels with a newborn.  We were not headed to Kansas City as the screen suggests.  That flight took off 2 hours before ours.

People were pretty friendly and helpful at the airport when they saw me traveling alone with a baby.  Strangers stopped to ask about him and give him smiles.  However, all that friendliness stopped when they saw me headed for their flight.  Looks of terror on their faces as I come lumbering down the aisle with 2 huge bags plus a baby strapped on.  Lucky for us all he slept the whole time :)

Sweet Lizzie picked us up at the airport and gave us a ride down to VA :)  We had a chance to spend a few hours with her that way!

Stella kept watch over baby G on the ride :)

We had a few visitors our first morning in Lynchburg....

I can't believe how big Worth has gotten!!  Seems like he was just born and he is about to turn 1 year old already...

We spent some time with Bubbie :)

The grandparents got in a little time before we headed out to our first Grantfest event...

Then we headed out to Kate's house where a bunch of people met and held Grant (pictures follow).

Hadyn is one of Matt's best and oldest friends.  These 2 share the same bday - a special bond :)  Crazy how that works out.

Yes that's me...nope that's not my baby!  I also had the chance to meet the sweet babes that belong to 2 of my friends from high school!

All together now :)

Had enough pics of people holding Grant?  How about one of him napping :)  Doesn't he look comfy?

Our next stop was back to Richmond to stay with Sarah and Katherine :)  Eabs stopped by to say hi!

K is such a big girl!

Grant had fun with Katherine's toys :)

Beautiful!

Friends :)  Could it get any cuter?!  We did not stage the hand holding...I promise.

There is something so wonderful about holding your friend's baby.  SO glad I had the chance to see them!

G also spent lots of time with his other grandparents!!  He is so loved :)

His grandma wanted all her friends to have the chance to meet him so she held a "sip and see" at her house :)  He was the center of attention (well him plus his grandpa as you will see below)!

Ha!

Grant also found some new toys at the baby consignment sale...he's such a big boy!

A bit more time with Bubbie and Doc before we headed home...

6 days went so fast!  Back to VT we went...

Someone was very happy to see us....

Whew!  Made it!

Grant laughs

I apologize for the lack of posts around here...I was talking with my mom this morning about how little time is left in the day to do things like blogging, laundry, and house projects now that Grant is here. I wouldn't want it any other way. This is such a precious time with him and he's changing so fast! I feel that way even more so now that I am away 2 days a week. So...I'll keep trying to get around to blogging when I can get to it. Don't give up on me!

For now...here's another video :)

Working...

A quick post since today was a work day and I'm rapidly reaching my bedtime. Working as a mom...my second day back. The first week went as well as could be expected. Grant was a star at daycare and work was busy enough to keep me preoccupied.

Still.

It's painful to be away from this sweet face for 10 hours.

For now...a whole 4 days of uninterrupted time with G. I just read on another blog where a mom describes her babies as her life, her loves, her everything. I couldn't agree more.
