4th of July

I love summer in VT. It's full of my favorite things - family, friends, creemes, fresh veggies, flowers, biking, hiking, boating, swimming, and sun sun sun! I could go on and on. It helps when the weather is gorgeous - It's almost like mother nature felt bad for punishing us for so many months in a row and she's trying to make up for it now. Sunny days in the low 80s is so heavenly.

Anyway - I had the chance to do lots of my favorite things over 4th of July when my dad and sister were up visiting.

My grandpa is the social chairman for our little community and every year he organizes a 4th of July picnic. It's a big hit.

I end up helping occasionally....this year I helped serve hot dogs.

After the picnic we went to Gus' 9th birthday party. This is Gus. He was not only celebrating his birthday, but also making it through a leg amputation and 5 rounds of chemo! He's doing great :)

Will stayed home and rested during the festivities :)

We also went out one night to dinner in cute Bristol, VT and then watched fireworks down at Basin Harbor.

We tried to take a semi-group picture but as you'll see it was a bit too sunny :) Not that I'm complaining.

These turned out a bit better.

We had a front row seat to the fireworks. We were literally so close that we could feel the paper debris coming down during the show!

VA Trip Last Stop

You might have noticed I haven't posted a Week 8 Construction update. That's because there wasn't anything "updated." There won't be one for Week 9 either. We're in a holding pattern waiting on the countertop installers. Ug. The painters have been at the house most days working on trim and final coats on the walls, etc but it wouldn't look that much different in photos. So there you have it. Remodeling woes.

Back to our trip to VA. I've been told I didn't clearly explain which of my friends was the 2nd pregnant one :) It's Sarah and I didn't see her until the 4th stop on our trip.

On our way back to VT we went through Richmond to see more friends. The first night we stayed with Heath and Bea (who are getting married in Oct - yay!). We had a fun dinner with a bunch of people and then headed out for a while. I'm sorry for the poor iphone photos but that was all I had out with me.

I won't tell you who won...

On Saturday we went to a housewarming party for my friend Elizabeth to celebrate her recent move to the 'mond.

We spent the night with Sarah and Ned and I made her pose for a photo shoot.

My sweet friend work up at 5AM the next morning to make us coffee and say goodbye as we were leaving for our long trip home. Thanks for hosting us friends! We had so much fun! Miss you all :)

VA Trip Stop 3

Happy Tuesday everyone. I've worked my way up to our 3rd stop - Kate yes that's you :)

We left the lake to spend a day and a night in our home town. We get to see my parents at the lake often but I wanted the chance to see some of our high school friends.

We did a quick stop at my parent's house first where the dogs had fun watching my mom cut the grass.

Her flowers are looking good despite the VA summer heat.

I was especially excited for this VA trip because I had the chance to see 2 of my best friends who are pregnant! It's a bit crazy to think we're moving on to the baby stage...

My friend Kate had a bunch of friends over for a cookout to celebrate our visit :)

She's having a baby boy in October!

Walker was proud of the results of his hard work in the yard....

I'm sad that these were all the pics I took...Thanks Kate for hosting and friends for coming over to see us! It was so fun to see you and we miss you already!
