The Blue Room

Ah. The blue room. Let me take you back. At our second showing I took some pics of the house so here it is in all its former glory. I'll let you guess why we named the room the way we did.

Ceiling - wish I could say a lot has changed but that would require more funds than we have at this point.

Don't forget the wallpaper.

Then we moved in and started renovations. The blue room was all we had (plus our bedroom, but we had to walk through construction to get upstairs so spent most time down in the blue room). The blue room is also the connection between the garage (where construction equipment lived) and the main floor. SO - it served as a walk-through area as well as a den and kitchen.

It was a blessing to have a "second den" of sorts, but it sure wasn't fun living down there.

The fridge never had the chance to call the blue room home, but it was close enough to count for a long while.

We got to the point when so many things had gone down on that carpet that we didn't even care about the carpet anymore (did we ever?) and just stopped trying to clean it.

It was such a happy day when we finally moved out to the lake (although I still had to wade through water for a few days to reach the house due to the record spring floods). The blue room remained in use, but when we moved back in we had to use the furniture upstairs so it was empty for a while.

We got our new sofa upstairs (hooray!) finally and it was time to tackle the blue room. The first step was to remove wallpaper and re-paint. Our poor painter tackled the job and got more than he bargained for.

He stripped wallpaper and then had to use drywall mud on top of our plaster in an attempt to make the walls even and smooth. He did a pretty good job!

It was a messy process.

Oh yea - we put in hardwood steps to match the rest of the stairs leading up to the landing during our active construction phase.

Then we picked out some new carpet (this wasn't actually the one we went with but it was similar).

Matt took these after painting was completed...the day the carpet guys came.

AND FINALLY - the after photos. We still have a long way to go as far as hanging things but we're moving slowly in that direction.

We think it's much improved :) It's so nice to walk through the room into the house now that it is done! I will post some updated pics once we hang a few more things...

xoxo!

Fall!

So fall was here....and is now on the way out :( So sad. Leaves off the trees and standard time are two of my least favorite things!

Anyway - We missed a lot of leaf peeping weekends with all our travel in October but it was beautiful around here! I did manage to snap a few photos with my iphone on my way to work in the past few weeks so I'll share those....

A few on the way home from Fredericksburg :)

We were a little festive at our house too...

At some point I'll show you a picture of our backyard - we are waiting for all the leaves from our 20 trees to fall before we deal with them. It's shaping up to be a big project.

Have a great weekend!

Heath and Bea Part 2!

Hello blog friends. Sorry for my absence and for taking the blog down for a bit. I wanted to edit some content and had to make the blog private in order to take time to do so.

It was so nice to be home again this weekend....We had gorgeous weather and spent some time hiking, some time with friends, and some time getting things done around the house. I will get to updating you at some point :)

For now, it's time to share pics of Heath and Bea's wedding day! It was gorgeous that day as well, so lucky :) We weren't allowed to take pics inside the church, so I'm going to start with the reception. We rode the trolley over from the church.

Their ceremony was in an old warehouse owned by the bride's uncle...it was a place where they used to manufacture dog food! It was beautiful and Bea did an AMAZING job with her decorations. You would never have known the true purpose of the space.

I mean...really!

The wedding had a bit of a feather theme. Heath and his father/brothers are hunters....Bea hand glued a feather from some of Heath's birds to every invitation and carried the theme through all of her flowers and even her hair!

It was a pretty warm day for October...but that doesn't mean I wasn't already pale :) (Come on - I live in Vermont - It hasn't been warm here since August!)

We wait for the wedding party to arrive....

Here they are!

The beautiful bride posed for a pic :)

Her dress was beautiful...and not sure why it appears shiny in this pic...maybe the flash?

More people pics....enjoying the festivities!

The newly married lady!!!

The old marrieds :)

My favorite part did not disappoint....

AND parent dances...

Lots of dancing followed the first dances and a bit of fun with this as well....

I think Walker's prop was my favorite of the night!

She did 7 days later and he is beautiful :)

Matt and Heath went to a small all male college and it is a tradition to take pics of all current/past HSC guys with the bride. Check out how many were there!

We missed doing that at our wedding but would have had quite a few too....I don't think we would have competed with this pic though!

Cake was smashed :)

I'm not sure what they put in these...maybe champagne?

The bride and groom left to a sparkler send-off!

I think the newlyweds just returned from their marathon honeymoon in Costa Rica - send pics you guys!

This was our last wedding of the season - I've shared them all! Yipee! Such fun times!

xoxo
