Katie and James' Wedding!

I LOVE weddings. I'm not kidding - we have been to 2 amazing ones recently and there's just nothing that can beat that! We had a blast attending the wedding of our friends Katie and James (on my birthday!) at Shelburne Farms :) It was SO fun to go back and see another wedding there. I had the chance to see lots of the vendors that did our wedding which was so cool. Matt made fun of me the whole time because I brought my big camera but I'm glad I did :)

K & J had their ceremony outside and it was GORGEOUS! The day was sunny and perfect.

Waiting for the bride :)

Who looked beautiful.

More of the ceremony.

A few during cocktail hour....

The amazingly talented Amanda of Orchard Cove was the official photographer - check out her pics of their wedding. WOW! Here she is working on a group photo shoot.

Inside...

Not sure what happened to the focus in these photos....

Toasting...

Probably not the best backdrop...

The first dance is one of my favorite parts - so cute.

J & K had a photo booth - SUCH a great idea. I tried it 3 times with varying success.

The first attempt was all about me. Not in a good way.

The second attempt with Matt was a bit more successful.

The do-over of this trio was much better than the first.

I took about a million photos but none of the dancing :( You'll just have to trust me that there was lots of it.

The festivities had to end at some point...

But not for us. We rode back to town on a bus for more fun.

And ended the night with pizza.

The groom made sure he got the order right :)

September 11

I think this memorial is pretty amazing.

Picture from ABC news.

I can't believe it was 10 years ago today. We spent some time watching the memorial service this morning and it was sobering to remember all those lives that were lost.

It will be one of those moments that everyone remembers, where you were when you realized what was happening and what you saw when turning on the TV. I was a freshman in college and my mom called my dorm room to tell me.

My prayers are still with these families.

Gallery Wall

While Cynde was here we worked on another one of my Pinterest-inspired ideas - a gallery wall.

Here are the inspiration pics...

This one...

These...

This Black and White Wall

I already had a few framed black and white photos so I decided to go with a black and white gallery wall. I had a coupon for Michaels that I used to buy some more black frames.

Cynde helped me arrange the frames on the floor first...

We started putting them up...

Then kept going...

Until we had this!

You can see I had a few frames left over that didn't quite fit. I still need to fill in a few holes on the left side and the bottom.

I ordered some of my photos in black and white to fill the frames. Here is how it looks as of now!

Now for a peek at the rest of the foyer. I need to add something above the desk and I'm still debating whether I want to leave it open or closed.

A peek into the den and a view of the basket lamp :)

Junk and Disorderly

On our way back from my cousin's swim in the islands, we passed an "antique" store named "Junk and Disorderly." We had to stop.

I came out with these beauties :)

I was looking for something a bit more contemporary, but at $12 each these beat the price of any others I liked by over $100. It's hard to find an affordable bar stool that has a back AND swivels (Matt's must-have list). I haven't decided how to fix them up yet. I'm contemplating painting them a bright color or staining them either with a dark stain or weathered one. Any suggestions?

I also found this for the hallway! Paint and new fabric on the seat to come!

Hope you had a great Labor Day Weekend! We attended a fabulous wedding down in Maryland so I have lots of catching up to do but more posts will come eventually :)

Lake Swim

OK so I know I've done more personal posting and less house posting recently - I promise the house posts are coming! Things have been super busy this week with the start of school and my fellowship/graduate class so I am posting on back images but I will get my camera out at some point and take some pics of where we stand inside now....

A few weekends ago, my mom and I headed up to the Champlain Islands to see my cousin swimming in the Lake Swim! She works for the Y and they do a big swimming fundraising event every year at a Y owned boys summer camp.

Sorry for the iphone photos...I forgot my camera.

Such a cool old camp!

Cousin swimming - her dad was her kayaker :)

Almost finished with the 2 miles!

Done!

Her cheering squad :)

Cousin and her dad :)

Great job Jess!
