Living/Dining Room Update

So I'm still here...waiting on Baby T.  I'll post an update on that soon :)  In the meantime, I don't think I've posted updated pics of our living room and dining room recently. I think I showed you the new couch, but we've slowly been adding other things as well! We still have empty spaces where things need to go but now that baby is coming I think things will stay this way for a while.

Kitchen looking into the dining room. The curtains were a Christmas gift from Cynde...We need something under those windows and the bar stools still need finishing but both projects are on hold for now :)

Basket on the wall from HomeGoods - $29.99!  I could probably use another something on the other side of the window too but I'm waiting until I find something great.

Please remember the "before" pic....

And the after...

Looking into the living room. Our new chair is here - it swivels which Matt LOVES.  The rug is new as well...Still trying to figure out that back wall.

Again...remember the before?

AND one more before view...

Again with the after....

Matt and I found the funky piece on the mantle while in Maine at that antique store. I'm still getting used to it!

Turning around...

A slightly updated pic of the foyer.

That's it for now!

Nursery!

So the nursery is finally complete for now. Just in time for baby T's arrival! I thought I'd have it done WAY ahead of time but at least it's done before baby T made an appearance. I apologize for not posting pics sooner for those of you asking for them, but I knew this was going to be a big whopping post so I've been putting it off. I want to make sure that I give attention to all the special details that so many people put so much thought into.  Good thing I have plenty of time to blog from the couch these days...

I could not have finished without the help of my MOM, sister, Cynde, and cousin!  Thank you again for putting so much effort and love into helping me :)  You've already seen that Matt and I picked out and put together the crib, etc. and Matt was also forced into carrying various items up and down the stairs multiple times so he contributed in his own way :)

Here is the view as you walk down the hall - baby T will be right around the corner from us so I'm hoping we really will use this room!

Here are a few overview pics.

First walking in...

Moving to the left...

Turning around to face back towards the door...

Details!

The collage (like many other parts of the nursery) was inspired by Pinterest. I found most of the prints for the photo collage on ETSY. You can find so many inexpensive, adorable things on ETSY! The elephant card came from Meg's trip to Thailand and the small card on the bottom was from my cousin at my shower. I framed them in white frames I found at Michaels/Creative Habitat.

The other elephants are also from Meg's trip to Thailand and the painted flower was a gift from Meg at another time!

Meg (plus Will and Mr. Boo) helped put the photo collage together and hang it up!

The bookshelf is the IKEA Expedit. The baskets are from IKEA as well. My cousin picked them up for me when she was in Boston (saving us a trip - hooray!).

The things in the shelves have been collected over time. The apple belonged to me as a baby as well as some of the books :) Other books I've bought at school book sales or received at my shower!

I bought the dresser from a small shop close to where I work. I stopped in one day and the owner showed me an old, beat up looking thing that had been out in his shed all winter.  He promised he'd sand it and get it working well and still sell it to me for cheap.  I was skeptical but he did!  Here it is the day I picked it up.

I apologize for not taking in progress pics of all these steps...I took all the old hardware off and ordered unfinished wood pulls. My mom painted the fronts of the drawers white, based on an idea she saw on a blog of course :) She also stained the pulls and the top of the dresser to match and then put a coat of poly on the top of the dresser. The paint/stain/poly was water-based and low VOC.  I bought new knobs for the drawers at a store here in VT. The mirror was one my mom already had at home and brought up for me to use.

The dresser is filled with fun things too :)

The changing pad cover was another project my mom completed for me. I am not a seamstress, but I did find a tutorial on Pinterest for making one of these. I had the fabric already and it seemed easy. It was not. My poor mom. She finished it though and I have 2 to use now!

The painting was a wedding gift, lamp my mom ordered for me from Shades of Light (it's also a nightlight if you just turn on the stars at the bottom - how cute!)...

The chair and rug were 2 items that are new, both were gifts so thank you :) The rug came from Shades of Light as well and the chair custom ordered...
Cousin made me this wall hanging using fabric sent from various family members.

My mom made the dog :)

The little owl is also a nightlight!

Crib bedding and curtains Cynde had made with my fabric :)

Old friends of mine for baby T...don't worry I know they have to come out when he/she arrives.

The mobile. This was almost directly copied off Pinterest, including where to order the paper balls! Another project that wasn't easy. Each was hung individually using fishing line and cup hooks. Matt and I started and my mom helped finish.

I'll leave you with this guy - the inspiration for the giraffe themed shower :) Of course he has a home here as well!

Whew!  Are you still with me? Good for you! I am well aware that the nursery won't stay looking like this for long so I figured I better document it while it's looking organized!

Baby Bump Weeks 34-36

Hello baby bump! Wow - I really don't feel that big until I look at these pics. Getting close to the end though :)

I have to say that I still like being pregnant. I continue to get the comments about how I look and questions about how close I am to my due date ("Wow - 5 weeks to go? Really?!"), but I'm convinced for the most part people are just nicer to pregnant people! I'm going to miss all the special treatment :) I love feeling the baby move and think I'll miss that too. However, I'm getting more and more excited to meet the little person that is going to arrive soon.

On another note, I was diagnosed with some mild pre-eclampsia last week and the MD asked me to stop working and limit my activity in an attempt to keep my blood pressure low. No more dog walking, hiking, or grocery store trips for me. I'm so grateful I'm not on full bed rest but it's hard to stay quiet when I feel good and want to be out and about! I will likely be induced before my due date so baby T will be here sooner than we thought! The important thing is that baby is doing well and so am I so I am thankful for that.

OK friends - I'll be back soon with nursery pics!

Fun with Sunset and Shadows

We enjoyed the most beautiful sunset the other night...

I took this fun pic of Meg...

Which led to shadow fun with the belly...

Ah.

A few others were there too (including my mom, who wasn't in a pic) :)
